First came Film. Then came TV.
Talent pools, aesthetics, and business models were born miles apart.
For decades, they barely understood each other. You bought a ticket to watch a Film on a big screen without interruption. Television came to your home, so it had to compete with dinner and the phone ringing.
For artists, Film was long considered the superior language. But as a business, television always had the upper hand. It was built on habit: repeat viewing, multi-season shows instead of single movies. And it supported many more formats. News, sports, game shows, some of the most popular TV genres never had a place in theaters.
It was only over the last two decades that their talent pools and business models really started to converge...
